Project Overview

Water for Life Tanzania is a humanitarian initiative dedicated to providing sustainable access to clean, safe drinking water for vulnerable communities in Tanzania. Millions of people worldwide still lack reliable access to clean water, forcing families—especially women and children—to travel long distances to collect water that is often contaminated and unsafe for consumption.

This project aims to construct and rehabilitate water wells, boreholes, and community water systems that will provide life-saving clean water to villages, schools, and healthcare facilities. By improving access to safe water, we can reduce waterborne diseases, improve educational opportunities, support economic development, and restore dignity to communities.

£400 for hand-pumps

£3600 for community wells.

The Need for Clean Water

Clean water is not a luxury—it is a basic human necessity.

Many communities in Tanzania face challenges such as:

Access to clean water improves health, education, hygiene, and overall quality of life. A single water well can transform an entire community for generations.

Allah سبحانه وتعالى reminds us of the importance of water:

“And We made from water every living thing. Then will they not believe?”

(Qur’an 21:30)

Allah also says:

“Have you considered the water that you drink? Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?”

(Qur’an 56:68–69)

These verses remind us that water is one of Allah’s greatest blessings and a source of all life.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ emphasized the virtue of providing water to others.

Sa’d ibn ’Ubadah (رضي الله عنه) asked:

“O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died. Shall I give charity on her behalf?”

He said, “Yes.”

He asked, “Which charity is best?”

The Prophet ﷺ replied, “Giving water to drink.”

(Sunan Abu Dawud)

The Prophet ﷺ also said:

“The most beloved people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people.”

(Al-Mu’jam al-Awsat)

Providing clean water is among the most impactful forms of ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), benefiting countless people every day.
