The Headstone Project 2026

About Us

The Headstone Project is a Leicester-based non-profit charity dedicated to giving back to the community by renovating and restoring headstones at Saffron Hill Cemetery. Our efforts honour the memories of loved ones while also providing meaningful assistance to the poor and needy worldwide as Sadaqah Jaariyah.

Our Mission

Our primary focus is on the renovation and restoration of headstones at Saffron Hill Cemetery. The donations we receive have a far-reaching impact, benefiting communities globally in honour of those buried at Saffron Hill. This work has previously funded:

Two water boreholes in Lilongwe, Malawi

A deep water well in Pakistan, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka

Handpumps in Myanmar and India

Wudhu/Water drinking facility in Afghanistan

Why Water?

Every minute, three children die from drinking dirty water. Access to clean water can save thousands of lives daily. Contaminated water is one of the leading causes of death in developing countries. By providing clean water, we can save lives for years to come.

As the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said:

"The best form of charity is giving someone water (to drink)."

Our Goal for This Year

This year, we aim to restore as many headstones as possible and to fund various water projects to the most deprived areas of the world. Working with One Nation, a Registered UK Charity who operate on the ground in over 40 countries across the world, operating on a 100% Donation policy. Your donation will allow One Nation to help provide clean water to those in need
